Starbase Defense

After reading through some of the journals, it seems like you can't station ships at star bases to defend them like you could in GC1. Is it possible to station a few defenders at star bases to defend them like you can with planets? I know that is how I used to defend them in GC1.

Yes, you can park ships on a starbase to guard them

Yes you can. It's also possible to upgrade starbases so that they can shoot back.

Thanks. It looks like I can go about my old tactics of non-violent conquering. (Through culture) I build up a Military solely to protect my planets and starbases usually.

WOW, i just bought this game last nite and played tonite for 6 hours. got my butt kicked but enjoyed it. But even " i " figured out parking on defenses to guard them, i also upgraded my defenses to shoot back and with my research they did a great job up until i had Frigates in my front yard ;;heh;; But 1st game out of the box... no complaints.
